LP5907SNX - About usage when this device is disabled

Guru 21045 points

Hi Team,

They would like to apply the external 5.1V to the out pin when this device is disabled.

I understand that they can apply the external 5.1V to the out pin because this voltage doesn’t exceed the absolute maximum.

However, they worry about current of discharge resister(230ohm).

This current is around 18mA (5.1V/230ohm) if this device is disabled and the voltage of out pin is 5.1V.

I understand that this current doesn’t adversely affect this device.

Could you please let us know if you have any concern?

Regards,

Kanemaru

  • My bigger concern is: what is the Vin value?

There are two AbsMax values for the OUT pin, but the datasheet is not clear about this point.

Vout should not exceed the LOWER of either (Vin + 0.3 V), or 6V.

There is a diode in the pass element (PMOS) from the OUT pin to the IN pin that allows reverse current to flow to the input if Vout is more than about 300mV above Vin.

  • Hi Donald-san,

Thank you for your prompt reply!

I will confirm the input voltage and report this information to our customer.
