TPS7A37 Ripple calculation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A37, CC3100

Dear Sirs,

I've found this TPS7A37 voltage regulator that seems good to power supply CC3x00 device.

From datasheet I've found:

"In the preregulated 1.85-V mode, the regulator providing the 1.85 V must have the following
characteristics:
• Load current capacity ≥900 mA.
• Line and load regulation with <2% ripple with 500 mA step current and settling time of <4 μs with the
load step.
• The regulator must be placed very close to the CC3100 device so that the IR drop to the device is very
low."

"To ensure WLAN performance, ripple on the 1.85-V supply must be less than 2% (±40 mV)"

Power supply is from a battery that can supply peak currents.

Resistors used to have 1.8v with value reported in datasheet.

Can you confirm that this LDO fit this requirements?

  • Hi Yaroslav,

TPS7A37 should be a good choice for your application.  Please note The PSRR curve (Figure 15).  This curve is a measure of how much ripple on the input will be rejected by the LDO in order to yield a cleaner rail to the CC3100.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
