TPS715A - Fixed DRV Package, NC Pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS715A, TPS782, TPS709, TPS706

Hello team,

We are potentially seeking to use TPS715A as a P2P* replacement to TPS782, which has the same package/pin-out except for that "NC" being an "Enable" pin (we are also considering TPS709).

I understand that TPS715A on the Fixed version has a "No Connection" or "NC" pin and, according to what is mentioned on the datasheet the NC pin "can be left open or tied to ground for improved thermal performance".

Q: Does the NC pin on TPS715A have an electrical connection to GND?

---

EDIT: * Please Noteas Ryan mentioned below, the IN and OUT are flipped between TPS715A and TPS782 in the DRV package so, TPS715A would not server as "Pin-to-Pin" replacement for TPS782.

Best,
Victor

  • Hi Victor,

The NC pin has no internal electrical connection; however, please note that IN and OUT are flipped between TPS715A and TPS782 in the DRV package as well. TPS706 or TPS709 would be a better switch depending on your application needs.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
