LP5907: dropout voltage

Part Number: LP5907

Hi Sir,

I would like to know about LP5907-3.3 dropout voltage define. In datasheet P5, it max. 250mV @ Iout = 250mA.

So, If I set I want to keep Vout can always not lower than 3.3V, I just need keep Vin = 3.3 +0.25V = 3.55V, right?

because I saw the section 6.5 as below, or it mean other spec based on this test condition?

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

Sorry for any confusion caused by this test condition. This is the overarching test condition for the Electrical Characteristics table. Meaning that all of the specs without other test conditions stated are tested at that condtion.

For the dropout spec Vdo look at footnote 7, it shows that the dropout is the measured difference between the input and output when Vout is lower than Vout(nom) by 150mV.

For your application if you keep Vin higher than Vout(nom) by 250mV the LDO should not be in dropout. However, if you operate the LDO with that little headroom the performance will be degraded specifically the PSRR.

    Best Regards,

    Mark

    Got it. thanks!!
