Need help in selecting right Power Supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62410, LMK61A2-100M

Hi

We have a chip done as part of research project. Need to provide 3.3V supply for IO and 1.2V for core. Input voltage is 5V tapped from USB. Chip current requirement is less than 500 mA.  If the power supply IC can also provide clock more than 10 Mhz (max 100 Mhz), that is also desirable.

So high level spec is

Vin Nom = 5v

Vout1 Nom = 3.3V

IOUT1        = 500 mA

Vout2 Nom = 1.2V

IOUT2        = 500 mA

Nice to have : Clock output with 10 - 100 Mhz range.

Please help me to chose right device.

  • Hello Mohammed,

    This design could be done with linear regulators at the cost of high losses due to inefficiency.

    Using TI's Webench I created a design.

    Several devices were shown, TPS62410 was one of them.

    On the TI Store you can get samples and the EVM:

    None of our Power IC's would have a 10MHz or 100MHz clock feature.

    You might consider this oscillator.
    LMK61A2-100M Ultra-Low Jitter Fixed Frequency Differential Oscillator
    Would these devices work for you?
