Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A8101,
This is an urgent request.
I have a Tier-1 customer that is currently TPS73701 (8-SON) with 3.7V input and 3.3V output rails. I suspect output voltage noise of the LDO and the upstream switching regulator are the degrading the phase noise of a low-jitter oscillator (XO) they are powering with the TPS73701.
I'd like them to prototype using a different LDO with lower noise and higher BW/PSRR to see if it can mitigate the XO performance degradation. I came across the TPS7A8101 as a possible candidate.
I'd like to know if TPS7A8101 (8-SON) is pin/footprint compatible with TPS73701? It's no problem to change the feedback resistor values.
Specifically, for TPS7A8101:
- Is it sufficient to use a single IN pin (i.e. connect pin 8 and leave pin 7 open)? Are pins 7 & 8 tied together internally?
- Is it sufficient to use a single OUT pin (i.e. connect pin 1 and leave pin 2 open)? Are pins 1 & 2 tied together internally?
- Is CNR pin required or can it be left open? If it can be left open, what is the expected in output noise and PSRR?
- Any other concerns in trying to fit the TPS7A8101 into the TPS737 footprint?
Is there another low-noise, high-PSRR LDO that is pin/footprint compatible to TPS73701?
Thanks,
Alan
