TPS7A84A: Difference between TPA7A84 and TPA7A84A

Part Number: TPS7A84A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A84, , TPS7A85A, TPS7A85, TPS7A83A

Hi, team.

What's the difference between TPA7A84 and TPA7A84A.

In overview, TPS7A84A is better accuracy than TPS7A84, but their accuracy look the same in electrical characteristics.

  • Kobayashi-san,

The main difference between the TPS7A84A and the TPS7A84 are:

    - 0.75% accuracy specified for the [1.1V - 2.2V] input voltage range when a bias is used for the TPS7A84A over load, line and temperature.  The TPS7A84 only specified this accuracy for Vin = 1.1V, so only for load and temperature at Vin = 1.1V.

    - The TPS7A84A does not have any requirement on the IN, BIAS, EN pin while the TPS7A84 requires the following sequence when BIAs is used; BIAS, IN, EN (at or after IN).

    - The TPS7A84A will start even if a negative output voltage is present on the output.  The TPS7A84 does not.  This may be important if there is a sequencing requirement on the +/- signal-chain where the positive LDO must be turned on after the negative LDO.

    - For the TPS7A84A, Theta_JC = 3.4°C/W.  For the TPS7A84, theta_JC = 1°C/W.

The performance will otherwise be the same.

  • Xavier-san,
    Thank you for your answer.

Is the difference also same by between TPS7A83 andTPS8A83A, TPS7A85 and TPS7A85A?

  • Kobayashi-san,

The difference are the same between the TPS7A85 and TPS7A85A, but at 4A output current.

For the 2A version, the difference between the TPS7A83 and TPS7A83A are the same:

    - 0.75% accuracy specified for the [1.1V - 2.2V] input voltage range when a bias is used for the TPS7A83A over load, line and temperature.  The TPS7A83 only specified this accuracy for Vin = 1.1V, so only for load and temperature at Vin = 1.1V.

    - The TPS7A83A does not have any requirement on the IN, BIAS, EN pin while the TPS7A83 requires the following sequence when BIAs is used; BIAS, IN, EN (at or after IN).

    - The TPS7A83A will start even if a negative output voltage is present on the output.  The TPS7A83 does not.  This may be important if there is a sequencing requirement on the +/- signal-chain where the positive LDO must be turned on after the negative LDO.

    - For the TPS7A83A, Theta_JC = 3.4°C/W.  For the TPS7A83, theta_JC = 1°C/W.

    with the added difference:

    - Output voltage noise of 4.4uVrms for the TPS7A83A and 6uVrms for the TPS7A83.
