TLV733P-Q1: RθJA and RθJC value discussion

Part Number: TLV733P-Q1

Hi Sir,

On the TLV733P-Q1 spec, the RθJA value is lower than RθJC, but typically RθJA should higher than RθJC.

May i have your help to advise if there is any reason to cause this? or this is a typo?

Thanks,

Patrick.

  • Hi Patrick,

Your understanding is correct, but in TLV733P-Q1 datasheet has two values of  RθJC; RθJC(top) and RθJC(bottom) where RθJC(bottom) is lower than RθJA. Some designer recommend using a heat sink (in designs with thermal margin) when only a single surface is used for heat removal that's why we have two RθJCs, please refer to Semiconductor and IC Package Thermal Metrics document paragraph 2.4 for further explanation.

    Best regards,

    Haidar
