TPS763: Maximum input voltage of TPS76333DBVT ?

Hi. I wanted to make design same like in TIDU298 , but what seemed strange for me is that in this application note the input voltage of TPS76333DBVT is shown as 5-12V.

But at the same time in TPS76333DBVT datasheet you can see that in Absolute maximum ratings Input voltage is from –0.3 to 10 V.

So, wouldn't 12V burn it down?

Hi Karlis,

That is correct. The drop from the diodes will cause it to be lower then 12, but they should have used a wider Vin part to also account for variation on the 12V (likely 5-10%). I would recommend using a device like the TPS709 instead to support the input range.

Hi David. Ok, I guess I will stay with schematics from application note, because the voltage I measured on RTS was 6.5V.
