TPS798-Q1: About Low-Voltage Tracking.

Part Number: TPS798-Q1

Hi Team,

Q1.Does Low-Voltage Tracking work when the input voltage drops below the output voltage?

(Datasheet Page 12  7.4.1 Low-Voltage Tracking)

Best Regards,

Watanabe

  • Hi Team,

    It is an additional question.

When the input voltage becomes lower than the output voltage,
    Will regulation continue?

    Example: Vin = 11 V Vout = 13.3 V

    Best Regards,
  • Hi Watanabe,

When Vin is less than the set output voltage, the LDO will be in dropout. While in dropout the LDO does not have enough headroom (Vin - Vout) to regulate the output voltage. The output will follow (track) the input voltage minus a small voltage drop caused by the load current over the switch resistance.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
