TLV704: TLV70433 Max Cout capability

Part Number: TLV704

Is there a limit to the maximum output capacitance on the TLV70433?  I'm trying to understand if:

1.  It can handle 200uF?

2.  It can handle 47uF in parallel with a series RC of 650 ohms and 100uF?

Please let me know.

Thanks, John Garrett, TI-AFA

  • Hi John,

While we do not have a specified maximum capacitance, there are likely to be application specific limitations on placing such a large amount of capacitance on the output. You will experience a large amount of inrush current due to the high capacitance and then a slow startup once current limit kicks in to limit the inrush current.

If you are attempting to filter the rail for your downstream load, placing the filter and extra capacitance on the input of the LDO will have the same system level effect without the struggle of trying to startup the LDO into such a large capacitive load.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
