TLV1117: what is inner feedback design of fixed TLV1117? it has inner divider or it has different inner reference voltage?

Part Number: TLV1117

As to fixed version of TLV1117, whether it uses inner divider resistors or it has different inner reference?

if customer wants to use TLV1117-50 5V fixed output LDO as 12V output voltage LDO, how to realize it? could they add one resistor between ADJ/GND pin and output GND as shown in below picture? or use external feedback divider resistors as 5V inner reference between OUT pin and ADJ/GND pin?

if we use inner divider resistor in fixed version TLV1117, what is value of inner divider resistor and how to calculate external resistor with adjust output voltage?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

  • Hi Yang,

You will not want to try to match the inner resistor divider of the LDO. These on-chip resistors are matched very well to eachother, but they can vary greatly over process. The best way to get a 12V output will be to use the adjustable version of the TLV1117 and set the output using resistors. If you try to match the internal resistors the output voltage will not be very accurate.
