Hello I want to design with TPS40210 a boost regulator for boosting from 10V to 48V@6A. while using the webench tool it is hsowing the message unable to select the output MOSFET.

If i use the Mosfet FDB045AN08A0 for it with the components the tool is showing, can the design be feasible?

    Hello Shakti,

A step up from 10V to 48V at 6A of load puts a very large current stress on the MOSFET. For your requirements, the approximate RMS current through the FET would be about 27A. If you go with the RdsOn at 6V Vgs of 5.6mOhms (of the FET you listed), you come up to about 4.1W. Once you add the losses due to the switching of the MOSFET, the total loss might be close to what the FET can handle.

Since we do not have the FET you listed in our database it would be difficult to see that the design would be feasible or not. You would have to prototype the design on the bench.

    Best Regards,
    Akshay
