What's the failure mode for TPS56221? If the failure mode is Vin short to Vout, then the input voltage will go to output, it can destroy load. How to protect it?

    Hi Yun,

    If Vin short to Vout does happen, you are right that it can possibly destroy the load. But what is your concern in the circuit causing Vin short to Vout?

    What I can think of is if the high-side FET experienced excessive thermal stress, it is possible to cause short from drain to source. It requires the power supply designer to set overcurrent protection threshold properly to avoid this happening.
