TPS40060 maximum output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40060EVM

I want to teach the questions.

We test under the following conditions

But output voltage is dropout.(12Vout→5Vout)

1.Output possible? Under the following conditions:

Vin 12.5V

Vout12V±10%

Iout:(min)0A/(typ)0.53A/(max)/2.51A

2.If No.1 question is possible. Please teach us recommend  peripheral circuits..

  • Hi Masaya,

I am not from this product's team, but I believe that these Wide VIN devices are optimized and meant to be used for lower duty cycles (such as from 10V down to 3.3V).

Running this part from 12.5V to 12V and at high currents does not seem like its intended use. Perhaps the efficiency is too low at max duty cycle and is causing it to drop lower.

Additionally, the EVM was designed for 3.3V out, so if you are switching to 12V you may have to change the compensation circuit aside from just the feedback resistors.

I would ask, what is your application / power requirements and perhaps we have a device better suited for that application.

    Thanks!

    Alex

Thank you very much for your reply.

    → Application is Blu-ray recorder.

        power requirements is Motor Drive.
