change the output voltage on the TPS53355EVM-743

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53355EVM-743, TPL0401A-10, CC3200, TPS53355

Is there a way to vary the output voltage of the TPS53355EVM-743?

Ideally I would like to be able to vary the output voltage using a CC3200 and something like http://www.ti.com/product/tpl0401a-10

  • Typically you would change the output voltage by changing the resistor divider of R10 and R12. You could probably replace both R10 and R12 with TPL401a. Connect the high side to VOUT, the low side to GND and the wiper to VFB. I have not tried it though.
  • Hi John, thanks for the reply.

I have done some experimentation and it so far things are going really well, but I have one question.

Ideally I would like the voltage to go as high as possible, if I am not mistaken, this is 5V for the TPS53355. When I use webench to design a circuit, using 6.5V - 8.4V input, 5V @ 30A output, I get a 0.82 uH inductor, but the TPS53355EVM-743 only has a 0.44 uH inductor. Will this need to be changed out to get the full 30A at 5V.. so far everything is working correctly up to 5V using the current inductor, but I haven't been able to find a load that will use 30A.

    Thanks,
    Derek
