TPS562209 - Layout guideline - Ground plane on both side?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS562209

Hi,

I decide to try the TPS562209 in my new project to replace the "traditional" 7805.

When I read the layout guidelines section, it's not clear if the ground plane should be on BOTH SIDE.

I ask because I don't see the purpose of the vias near the input/output capacitor if there is no ground plane on the other side?!

The TPS is the only SMD in my design, all others being traditional thru hole component. So what's is the reason for those addtionnal vias?

Thx!
