TPS61040 - 400mA?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61040, TPS61170

I am using the TPS61040 switching regular to boost an input voltage of +5VDC to +24VDC. I would like to consume 160mA at the output and this regulator is listed as having an internal switch current of 400mA however neither the calculation or application give the desired 160mA.

What inductor size should I be using and what switching frequency will this achieve? Is this even possible with this regulator?

  • Hi,

The output power is too big, so the TPS61040 is not fit for the application. I suggest you to use TPS61170, it is just fit for this application.A 10A inductor is OK for the application, make sure its saturation current is higher than 1.3A

Could you share the detailed application information with me? Like what is the end product?
