TPS61040 and TPS61042 eval board

Hi,

I tried TPS61040 and TPS61042 eval boards for 9V output and 200mA output current using rheostat. Not able to get the line voltage regulation. i varied the input voltage from 2.2V to 5V. Observed output voltage has 1.5V worst case difference.

TPS61040 - FB pin (R1 = 220k; R2=36K)

TPS61042 - RS pin connected to 1.2 Ohm; RS and FB are shorted.

it is normal behavior because these two device trigger its current limit at 9V&200mV output. they are not for this power level application.
please try TPS61093.
what is input voltage range in your application? and what is the boost converter used to power in the project.

Hi Sivaraman,

You can find explanations for your problem by following method.
- Try to run the simulation with "WEBENCH". The results from error windows under "Or click below to show why parts were not found." might tell you the problem.
- Search for "TPS61040 on Webbench" case on E2E

Thanks for your reply.

input voltage range is 2.2V to 5.3V. our basic application is 200mA - 30 LEDs (3 series and 10 parallel) -2.85V drop across the LED.

Please provide your suggestion.

please have a look at TPS61165 designed for LED driver. but it can't support down to 2.2V input
