Hi,

didn't know where to present the following question, so i'll try here :)

I'm having an ear tag PCB (i.e. very small 30x30 cm). I want to give regulated power to 2 main blocks-

1. micro SD card which need 2.7v- i thought of using the boost converter TP61030

2. Rest of the circuit- MCU, CC1121, MEMS, Gyro- I need 2v (to stabilyze the sensors) , using TP6247 (this was tested already, with the down converter and the circuit is working fine)

I'm using a 3.1v battery for the circuit. this is a logger R&D circuit, not for production!

My Q is- can I use both on the same PCB?

1. Why select the TPS61030. the input voltage is 3.1V, higher than the VOUT 2.7V. and the current consumption for the SD card is at level of 100 mili Amp. it seem you need a buck converter and smaller device.
2. i try to search TP6247 in google but don't find the datasheet. could you confirm the part number？

Hi Jasper,

TPS62740 is the right converter, sorry for the confusion..
as for the TP6103x- in the datasheet the input voltage is 1.8v-5.5v, and the reason i thought of it is because i know the sd card is the main battery consumer, so i'll need to boost the minimum 2.7v for the sd card even when the battery is lower.

I'l be happy to find out if there's a better solution and if it's recommended to use 2 converters on the circuit, maybe i should use LDO etc.

Primary Li-MnO2 Battery, 1200mAh, 3.1v
voltage range- 3.1v-2v

you can use a boost converter TPS61291 to 3.3V , then a LDO down to 3V for your application

But I need regulated 2v for the cc1121, mcu, adxl362 and regulated 2.7-3v to the sd card.
should i use 2 LDO's in addition to the boost converter? sounds like too much..

yes. or two buck.

or you can use a buck-boost converter for the 2.7V output.
