ON/OFF output of IC Boots voltage. LM2586

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2586, LM3017, TPS61232, TPS61230

I'm doing test circuit Boost voltage. I see on the datasheet of some kind that me see IC Boots voltage (LM2586)  through the circuit structure as shown in the attached Figure. I see it with foot ON / OFF but if you see the way infected OFF circuit as shown in Figure the IC but inactive, the output is not Boots up but output voltage also exists that voltage which runs from input voltage across the coil. That is equal to the input output when IC OFF. So the question I want to pose is not for IC Boots to the operation as will the 0v output instead it up with the input. The forum you have any idea or solution to help you with!
Thank you very much.

  • I am not sure I fully understand your question.  However, with this type of boost converter when the EN input is pulled high, the device will stop switching and the output voltage will go to the input voltage; minus the small diode drop.  This is normal for this type of simple boost converter.

  • My problem is there any solution to us can completely disable the output of IC Boots? I understand when the EN input is pulled high, the output voltage will go to input voltage minus the diode voltage (OFF case).
Ex: I using Boots output up 12V with the voltage input is 5V. When the input EN is pulled, the output voltage = 4.3V ( for V_diode = 0.3). But I want can control the output ON or OFF. Or output = 12V with status ON, Or output =0V with status OFF ( instead of output is 4.3V).
I know type of simple boots converter can'nt use pin ON/OFF to do it. I want to consult in order to do that.
    Thanks!
  • snva731.pdfWe have several boost regulators that have load disconnect.  Such as: TPS61230, TPS61232, LM3017.  Search for boost regulators with load disconnect on our website.  You can also use an external FET to block the path from the input to the inductor.  I have attached an app note that may be helpful.
