About PMBus commands of TPS53915

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53915

Hi all,

I have three questions about TPS53915.

(1)My understanding of the power up sequence of TPS53915 is as follows.
If the power supply(VIN) of TPS53915 is turned on without sending any PMBus commands,
the entire contents of NVMs will be stored to the operating memories,
and TPS53915 will work with the stored memories(the operating memories).

   Is my understanding correct?
Or, is the RESTORE_DEFAULT_ALL command needed?

(2)I understand that the values written on NVMs at the time of shipment are the values described
on the data sheet(described as TI default).

     for example)

   Is my understanding correct?

(3)If the PMBus commands are not used, can SDA pin and SCL pin be left floating?

Best regards.

  • hi Tokumoto,
    1-Yes your understanding is correct.
Only RESTORE_DEFAULT_ALL command needed if you want to load the stored configuration that was stored in NVM into the operational memory.
2- I can't see your example, but the datasheet should be similar to TI default.
3-yes, you can leave the PMbus pins open.
  • Hello Benjamin1-san,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I'm sorry, I tried to attach the extract of the data sheet,
but I wasn't able to attach it for question 2 well.

Please let me ask you just one more question to be sure.

"The values written on NVMs at the time of shipment are the same as TI default
values described on the data sheet(SLUSAS9B NOVEMBER 2013REVISED DECEMBER 2014)."

    Is my understanding correct?

    Best regards.

  • hello Tsuyoshi-san,

yes, it should be the same as TI default, but to be 100% sure. I would recommend to verify that if you have EVM board and GUI.
  • Hello Benjamin1-san,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply and advice.

      I understand it well.

    Best regards.
