Capacitor selection LM2596-ADJ

Gentlemen,

Hopefully you can head me in the right direction with your experienced comments and advices in regards to the following:

I am working on the design of a telemetry board for automobiles based on a SIM900 GPRS module, which requires 4.1V nominal voltage and demands 2A bursts of 577 µs, every 4.6 ms, from the power supply .

The manufacturer provides some hardware references to assist in the design of th power supply (based on the LM2596-ADJ), but this reference is not clear  about input and output capacitors. I am certainly not an expert in the SMPS field, and to make things worst for me, these current bursts and the components added by the noise rejection filter recommended by the manufacturer, make me feel completely out of a confort zone with the selection of the input and output capacitors.

The schematic with all the data available is attached as reference, just in case it helps.

Any criteria or comment of you about the right approach to follow with the caps selection, will be very valuable for sure and very appreciated.
