LM5175 Refreshing Synchronization Changes Ripple

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5175

Hello Team,

I'm working with a LM5175 HP EVM using the following setup:

  • 125kHz programmed switching frequency
  • Externally syncing 250kHz
  • 12pF slope capacitor
  • Well regulated 12V nominal input

When I test the setup with a full constant current load of 40A, I get a ripple on the output of 90mV with 96.5% efficiency. However, if I "refresh" the sync frequency by re-applying it, the controller adjusts the output so that I see 60mV of ripple and 97% efficiency. I would like to be able to operate with the 60mV of ripple and 97% efficiency without having to re-apply the sync frequency.

Does anyone know why re-applying the sync frequency might cause this change in performance? I appreciate the help!

Best Regards,

Benjamin Moore
