TPS54326 - About maximum voltage of SS pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hi Team,

I understand that the maximum voltage of SS pin is 0.779V(it is maximum voltage of VFB).

Is my understanding correct?

And, I have one more question.

I simulated the following conditions using "TINA-TI".

As a result, the voltage of SS pin reached around 6.0V.

I guess that "TINA-TI" has a bug.

Is my understanding correct?

[Simulation conditions]

Vin=8.4V

Vout=5V

Iout=3A

  • Hi Kanemaru-san,

    TINA is right. SS pin cap will charge up to around 5.5V. There is an internal fixed 0.765V reference and the FB comparator will use the lower voltage level for reference between 0.765V and SS pin voltage. In this case, during soft start, 2uA current will charge up the SS cap and its voltage will ramp up smoothly. The reference at this time is from SS pin. And when voltage on SS pin is higher than 0.765V. Reference will switch to the fixed 0.765V and SS will continue to charge by 2uA current until it rise to the internal LDO output level 5.5V. Hope this will answer you question.

    Anthony

  • Hi Anthony-san,

    Thank you always for your kind support.

    I understand. Thank you very much.
