LM2700: Separate “VIN” and " regulation voltage(VREG)"

Guru 21045 points
Part Number: LM2700
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS55340, , TPS61200

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use the following conditions(separate “VIN” and " regulation voltage(VREG)").

Because, minimum VREG is 0.5V so this voltage is lower than the recommended operating conditions of VIN.

Could you please let us know if you have any concern?

[Conditions]

-VIN=3.0V

-VREG=0.5V to 6.2V

-IOUT=TBD

-VOUT=around 6.5V

  • Hello Kanemaru,

I just posted to similar post for the a different part that you made here:

    e2e.ti.com/.../2110939

All of the same VIN vs. Vreg information should still apply. That said that max duty cycle for the LM2700 is even lower than that TPS55340 which means that you will encounter regulation issues at even higher voltages of maybe 1.0V or higher on VIN.

Like I stated in the post above I would recommend looking into the TPS61200 if possible.

If not you can look at other boost convereters that let you source the VIN and VREg seperately but you are going to need a converter that can handle probably at least 97% or higher duty cycle for the exterme case where you want to supply 300mV and get 6.5V out.

Let me know if there are any other questions.
  • Hi Ryan-san,

Thank you for the detail information.

I understand. Thank you very much.
