LM5175-Q1 (Webench Issue) : 6V-24Vin, 9V out, 4A peak Design?

Part Number: LM5175-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5175, LM5175EVM-HD

Hi team,

My customer is designing a power supply like above. Webench seems to think that is not possible with the LM5175. Can you guys explain?

The reasoning webench provides is "zero power dissipated across the device."

The excel design tool seems fine with those parameters.

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Seems like something that the device can do. In fact we have modified the LM5175EVM-HD to do something like this (9V/4A).
Therefore I think it is a webench issue, not the device issue. I suggest changing the title to include "Webench".

You can continue using the excelsheet based calculator. Please also look at the product folder for design guides, layout notes etc.

    Hope that helps.
