TPS61092: Powering Devices with USB power supply (from laptop/pc/adapter)

Part Number: TPS61092
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2500, , TPS63060, TPS63000, TPS62170, TPS63050, TPS62750

Hello Community!

Im interested on how to properly make use of an protected usb power supply.

The device i am developing is going to be supplied by a usb port of an computer/laptop.

So far i know laptops have an 5V-500mA output.

What i actually want to do stabalize and boost my incomming voltage supply from the laptop to 5V 500mA and 3V3 500mA (i prefer more amps. but as far i've calculated i need atleast in total of 350 mA.

I've found something like the TPS61092 or TPS2500?

But then i read something about atleast 1A input?

Would i need to use of an buck/boost converter? Or can i just take the input of an laptop?

And what about surge-protection?

Can you guys help me out on how to go to the next step?

Best regards,

Klaas
