Hi,

I am trying to design a buck-boost regulator around LM5118 and I want use the below parameters:

Input:24~60V

Output:36V/5.5A

Ambient Temp: 55℃

I used WEBENCH run this design but show information as below:

Could you help to confirm whether the LM5118 can meet this design requirement?
If it can not be reached, is there any other suggested solution?

It is mostly caused by the temperature rise in the MOSFETs that the model calculated with available parts in Webench library. Just for simulation purpose, can you change the ambient to -40C and let the Webench to create a design first?

Thanks for you reply! I follow your suggest to change the ambient to -40C the result is same (as below). Please help to provide suggest solution for this design specification. Thanks~

Hi Youhao Xi-San, Sam Shyu-San,

I checked our database and Webench database doesn't have any stand alone Mosfet that could work for this input output conditions. The reason for failure is: We may need more than one Mosfet in parallel to handle such high currents.

Youhao Xi-San,

Could you please recommend Sam a suitable Mosfet for this conditions? We will go ahead and add that Mosfet to Webench database.
