TPS40170: SCP Fault Time

Part Number: TPS40170

Hello,

We are concerned about how long a large short circuit current will be allowed to flow through the high side FET before the SCP shuts down the gate drivers.

Once the voltage drop across the high side FET reaches the trip point, does the FET shut down "immediately"? If so, do we have any data or specs on the time between the fault and driver shut down?

Or, once the trip point is reached and the internal OC_FAULT signal is asserted, do we still need to wait for the SS cap to charge up as described in section 7.3.5.1?

Thank you,

Ryan
