Q: Is TPS61090 able to use for the solar cell input application? by 569213
In the application report of SLVA345A, a solar cell input application is presented using TPS61200.
The practical schematic is shown on its Figure 2.
Does this circuit work with TPS61090, replaced TPS61200?

The TPS61090 cannot work the same way as in the app note. The app note uses the VAUX pin of the TPS61200 to start and power the op amp before the IC starts up. The TPS61090 has no VAUX pin to do this with.
That being said, there is nothing that prohibits you from using the TPS61090 in a solar cell application. If the cells can support the current required for start-up, then it should work fine. Also note that the TPS61090 has a much higher minimum Vin than the TPS61200.
