Q: TPS63000 COUT ESR value by 1158565

Our customer plans to use TPS63000 for 5V output, and they inquire TPS63000 output cap.

At this time, they will use 4.7uH inductor, so COUT need at least more than 23.5uF. Datasheet recommends ceramic cap, but they can't use it because their application can't allow the large size or profile of high volume ceramic cap. So, they plan to use tantalum cap.

Their question is,
Can TPS63000 allow to use tantalum cap as COUT? And how many ESR can TPS63000 allow?

They plan to use the following,

NEC TOKIN/TEPSLA0J476M8R(6.3V/47uF/ESR:180m ohm) or SANYO/6TPG100MABC(6.3V/100uF/ESR:70m ohm)

The TPS63000 datasheet paragraph "Output Capacitor" states that there is no requirements regarding minimum ESR.  For your situation, the datasheet also recommends that you include a smaller ceramic capacitor close the TPS63000 output.  Please make sure your customer follows the EVM layout for placement of this capacitor.  The larger tantalum capacitor can be placed next to the smaller ceramic capacitor.  If you require a smaller solution, consider the TPS63010 which is a chipscale IC or the TPS63030 which is a smaller SON package.

Also note that the recommended inductor value is 1.5uH.  If you use the recommended inductor value, you can use a smaller ceramic capacitor.
