TWL6032 charging inhibit

We are proposing a design to reuse the TWL6032 in our products using primary cells instead of Lithium Polymer cells.

We want to inhibit charging with the same design with a simple configuration / board stuffing option.  Are there any charging inhibit solutions functions other than shorting the battery thermistor to ground on GPADC_IN1?  Will shorting this pin always inhibit charging in all conditions (power on transitions, etc).
