TPS65051 LDO voltage input

It's stated in data sheet that VCC is the power supply for digital & analog circuitry of DCDC1, DCDC2 and LDOs. and VCC must be connected to the same voltage supply as VINDCDC1/2.

Is it OK to have VINLDOx at higher voltage than VCC?

For example VINDCDC1/2 and VCC input is at VBatt (3V-4.2V) and VINLDO1, VINLDO2 & VINLDO3/4 input is at 5V?

Kindly enlighten

Thanks & Regards

  • That should be fine. What will be the power up sequence?

  • The power up sequence is DCDC1 followed by DCDC2 (both are connected to VBatt input 3.0V-4.2V),

Then LDO2, LDO3 & LDO4 are enabled (all the 3 LDOs are connected to 5V input),

And lastly LDO1 is enabled (this LDO1 is connected to VBatt input)

Is this power up sequence (VBatt in followed by 5V in followed by VBatt in again) ok / meeting the PMIC requirement?

My worry is about the latch up problem, where LDO inputs (5V) is higher than VCC. Must the VCC voltage be the highest among all the voltage supplies?

    Kindly enlighten

    Thanks & Regards
