TPS65735 EVB 10 kΩ NTC thermistor question?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65735

Dear Sir

We can't find NCP18W103J03RC datasheet(TPS65735 EVB suggest part).

May you suggest NTC part for us?

                                             Best Regards,

                                                               Bogey

  • Hi Chen,

    To get the same results from the datasheet you should select a thermistor with the same B (25/85) value and nominal resistance as the one shown in the specification. R = 10k and B = 3490.

    But, to design for different temperature cold and hot trip points you can select another thermistor with a different B value.

    Vts = Rt ( at temp) * ITSBIAS.

    Vcold and Vhot comparator threshold voltages are specified in the datasheet.

  • Dear Sir

    May we know the TS pin function?

    For example, if the Vts > Vcold(2100mV) or Vts < Vhot (300mV), that TPS65735 will action. Is the IC will shutdown or charge function disable?

    and from DS page 11, if we use "10K, B=3490 resistor", then we monitor temperature point is 0 degree and 50 degree?

  • HI ,

    Typically, when the TS detects the battery to be too hot or too cold the charger disables or reduces the current. I see the datasheet does not specify which one it does. But, since there is only one hot threshold and cold threshold the charger most likely disables charging completely. If you are concerned you can test it out on the EVM that is available on the website

  • Dear Sir

    We have use EVB to test, but EVB will auto into sleep mode(we have try 2 pcs EVB) after EVB run 3X seconds ~ some minutes(random).

    set up way as below:

             CHG_ON  = on

              SLEEP = LOW(we also have set to high but result is the same)

              VLDO_SET = 3.0V

              SW_SEL = S1

                                                                                 Best regards,

                                                                                                      Bogey

  • Hi Chen,

    See the user guide to power up the board. It will walk you through the turn on sequence and all jumper options for the EVM. Monitor BAT and provide BAT with a source meter set to 3V allow the current to swing positive or negative.

  • Dear Michaelthanks for your reply~~The customer doesn’t need sleep mode.
    The DS show the sleep pin is enable by edge triggered(seems High to Low). But EVB is show connect to GND to enable sleep mode.
    May we check if we don’t need sleep, how to connect sleep pin?(TPS65735 is normal operation whether sleep pin keep connect high or Low) And DS seems also no show how to wake up device.
    JP4 : SLEEP, HIGH, LOW
    JP4 pin 1 is GND, pin 2 is the SLEEP pin of the TPS65735 and pin 3 is VLDO of the TPS65735. Short
    pins 1 and 2 to put the TPS65735 in sleep mode or short pins 2 and 3 to disable sleep mode of the
    TPS65735. Best regards,
    Bogey
