TPS6591133 VBACKUP

Originally using TPS659113. Now see it is NRND and recommend using TPS6591133. What is different between these two parts and why did TI recommend the change?

On TPS6591133 – pin D7 VBACKUP – what do you do with this pin if you are not using the function?

SWCU083 page 3 says connect it to VCC7 if not used.

Customer design currently has a 2K resistor to GND on VBACKUP pin and they want to change to 1.7K resistor to GND for part commonality. Is this OK?

  • Hi Tom,

Bumping this up and copying the right folks.

  • Hi Tom,

There was an issue with leakages in Da-vinci processor and in-order to eliminate the leakage a solution was found to simply swap the GPIO0 and GPIO7 for TPS659113 and TPS6591133.

Please see section 3.1 of the Centaurus User Guide: swcu126a.pdf

To observe the resulting sequence differences please see section 3 of the above user guide compared to the prior user guide for the TPS659113: swcu083a.pdf

Please follow the user guide's recommendations and connect the VBACKUP pin to VCC7 if unused. Why does the customer have a 2k resistor on the BACKUP pin?
