Powering OFF TPS65217 based on PB_IN switch press

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65217

Hi all,

In one of our design, we have been trying to power off the TPS65217 PMIC when PB_IN switch is pressed for more than 8 secs.

We understood that normal behavior of the PMIC is to power cycle when the PB_IN switch is pressed for more than 8 secs.
In some cases such as BBB, where the board was powering OFF was due to the improper power- down sequence which results in the fault condition.
This was due to the fact that PPM will be disabled when the PB_IN is pressed for more than 8secs & PMIC will not get enough power to execute the power- down sequence properly.

In our design, we are powering ON the PMIC from battery input , thus even though PPM is disabled , VSYS will be powered ON from the battery. Thus every time power-down sequence will be executed properly resulting in the rebooting of the board.

We want to know if there is any way to put the PMIC in power off condition when PB_IN switch is pressed for more than 8 sec.

Please suggest.
Looking forward to your support.

Thanks,
Suresha
