TPS65835: TPS65835

Guru 13485 points
Part Number: TPS65835

would like to use the tps65835 for controlling active shutter glasses.

Our mode of operation is a bit different from the standard 3D glasses, we would like to:

  • Enable shuttering of each of the glasses lenses independently
  • Enable both lenses to be open or shut simultaneously
  • Once a shuttering command (open or close) has been sent to a lens, the lens shall remain at the same state until the opposite command is sent

All features mentioned above are doable with the tps65835?

  • Hi Eli,

Thanks for the post! We are looking into this. It seems that we could support the operations you mentioned above. However, please allow us time to confirm this. Please let me know if there are any questions. Thanks!

  • Hi Paul
    Any news?

  • Hi Eli,

Sorry for the delay. Please see my responses below. TPS65835 does not have a command to simultaneously enable both lenses but you could enable one right after the other and still probably not affect the image quality as it is probably not 'humanly' possible to see the delay. Do you see any issues with doing it this way?

    • Enable shuttering of each of the glasses lenses independently
      • [PK] There are two separate H-bridges, one for each lenses
    • Enable both lenses to be open or shut simultaneously
      • [PK] There is not a command to open/shut both lenses simultaneously but you could open/shut one right after the other and still probably not affect the image quality as it is probably not 'humanly' possible to see the delay. Do you see any issues with doing it this way? For more information on the code to control the H-bridges please refer to page 56 in the datasheet under section, 6.2.1.2.3.1.

    • Once a shuttering command (open or close) has been sent to a lens, the lens shall remain at the same state until the opposite command is sent
      • [PK] This is controllable by the commands that are sent via the MSP core.

  • Hi Paul,

Another question, if I would like to use this component just while connected to power (USB). What should I do with the battery and charger pins?

  • Hi

In addition to above question, Can you please advise what work environment is required? (E.g. JTAG and other tools)?

    B.Regards

    Eli

  • Another one question.
While operating the LCD with the H-Bridges, do we have any indication of current flow through the LCD? Close loop?
