TPS650830: Shutdown mode and EC power supply

Part Number: TPS650830

Hello!

I have a schematic based on TPS650830 as PMIC and external VRM powering Kaby Lake and I have and EC that is powered from VR3 3.3V (ENVR3 is driven by LDO3V). The situation is so, that I need all Kaby Lake power to be turned off except VR3).

The questions are:

1) If EC for example will bring SHUTDOWNZ low - VR3 will be also turned off?

2) In shutdown mode power button events are still processed and PCH_PWRBTNZ, EC_ONOFFZ outputs are working?

3) If there any HW way (not using SMB access) to turn off all power outputs except VR3 (one way is to drive all ENVRx from logic & (SLP_x lines & EC shutdown line))?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Konstantin,

    1) If ShutdownZ pin is pulled low, all rails including VR3 will be turned off. In this mode only LDO3V,LDO5V, VREF1.25V are enabled.

    2) Yes power button events still working in shutdown mode and PCH_PWRBTNZ and EC_ONOFFZ outputs are working.

    3) You can turn on and off depending on the sequencing by pulling Sleep signals low( Enable signals for each rail). If there are rails which are enabled by some power good signals like VR2 by DPWROK, you can "AND" the enable with SLP_S5# so it can be disabled as needed.

    Regards,
