TPS659037: Difference between TPS6590377 and TPS6590378/TPS6590379

Part Number: TPS659037

The latest revision of the TPS6590377 Users Guide (SLIU011E, August 2017) give guidance for the TPS6590378 and TPS6590379 only. It does not indicate what relationship these parts have to the TPS6590377. Are they newer updates that are recommended for new designs, or are they intended for different applications?

Thank you,

Don L

  • Hi Don,

Thanks for reaching out to us. The TPS6590378/9 have an updated power-down sequence that more closely matches the AM572x power sequencing. Specifically, DDR supply (SMPS3) was moved from slot 3 to slot 2 so that it powers off before VDDS18V.

TPS6590378 is the updated version of TPS6590376, and TPS6590379 is the updated version of TPS6590377. Both are pin-to-pin compatible replacements, and are recommended for new designs instead of the older devices. Existing designs can continue to use TPS6590376/7.
