TPS65233-1: diodes in schematic

Part Number: TPS65233-1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65233EVM, TPS65233, TPS65235-1

Hi,

I'm looking at the datasheet and find 3 diodes in the reference schematic. The very same reference found in the evaluation board TPS65233EVM". However in the evaluation board BOM and PCB picture it's clearly seen that only one diode populated "D1". D131 and D132 is not populate... Can you advise on this?

Also strange the datasheet doesn't tell a word about the diode part numbers, types, and status etc.

Thanks

  • Hi, Zoltan

    I have checked.

    The D1 is B340A-13-F, Diode, Schottky, 40 V, 3 A, SMA.

    The D131 is B240A-13-F, Diode, Schottky, 40 V, 2 A, SMA.

    The D132 is B240A-13-F, Diode, Schottky, 40 V, 2 A, SMA.

If surge test is needed, it still needs a TVS diode (SMCJ28A, Diode, TVS, Uni, 28 V, 1500 W, SMC), the anode is connected to GND, the cathode is connected to VLNB.

So there need 4 diodes in total.

The added TVS diode and D131 is for surge test, if not need surge test, they can be removed.

BTW, the TPS65233 is an old LNB regulator part, some detais are not mentioned in datasheet.

The new generation LNB part is TPS65235-1, maybe you can select TPS65235-1 for your design.
