TPS65381A-Q1: Disabling sensor voltage output

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1

Is what I have drawn below an acceptable way to disable the sensor voltage output?

  • Hello Jacob,

It looks like VSOUT1 is disabled by default and is only enabled through SPI, so you shouldn't need to do anything special to disable it. However, your connections look ok to me if you want to reduce leakage current.

I've looped in the device expert in case he has any additional comments.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • You're right, but I would like the sensor voltage output to be safely disabled regardless of (accidental) software enabling.

  • Hello Jacob,

The way you have configured it shouldn't be and issue but we have a slightly different recommendation when VSOUT1 is not used by your application. It okay to leave VSIN, VSOUT1 and VTRACK1 floating (open) and VSFB1 to ground. We have an application note, the design checklist at: www.ti.com/.../slva611 which will help you double check the design implementation.

Using either configuration if the s/w accidentally enabled VSOUT1, both would show a VSOUT1_UV fault since VSIN had no supply (in your case GND, in the other case floating).

Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Best Regards,
    Scott
