TPS65311-Q1: BOOST VOLTAGE IS NOT ACHIEVED

Part Number: TPS65311-Q1

Support Path: /Other topics/Design techniques and how-to guides/

Hi,

I am trying to simulate the BOOST regulator of TPS65311-Q1 using spice model available with TI under TOOLs and SOFTWARE section, I had rigged up the circuit as shown below, I cannot achieve BOOST to 5V which is what I am trying to see. To that I am using a LOAD consuming only 10mA I’d like to see the ripple, to check if I could supply without any hassle.

I have attached the spice model FYR, and also see below the result waveform,

Please help me where have I gone wrong.

  • Hi Sainath,

After a first review, I noticed there is no input capacitor (10uF recommended in the datasheet), and that your inductor value is different as well. Did you try using the datasheet recommended values first before modifying them? If you want to change your inductance, I would suggest looking at section 9.2.3.2 of the datasheet and modify the Cout and/or compensation to match the inductor.

I'm also assuming the "V4" pulse is set high for more than a few milliseconds, and not being set low immediately after powering up.

I've also looped in the device expert for his comments.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • Hi Sainath,

Looks like you have not set VREG to 5.8V and can you please try it and check again? Also add input capacitors as mentioned by Karl.
