TPS65381A-Q1: IGN pin monitored for open and close?

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1

Team,

Is the IGN pin on tee TPS65381A-Q1 monitored for  an open or floating condition?

  • Hi Julio,

Are you asking if the device can recognize a missing wakeup source on IGN?

I'm looping in an expert on this device to comment.

    Best Regards,
    Rick S.
  • Hi Richard and Julio,

The IGN pin of the device is one of the two wake up inputs on the device. There is no way for the device to distinguish directly a short or open, it is just an input pin.  For floating pin the device has a weak pull down to prevent false wake up.  For short to ground the device would see a low from which it would not wake up.  A short to battery or other supply above the IGN thresholds and the device would wake up.

There could be some possibility if the application required to wire the CANWU (with proper protection for the wake up signal) and IGN pin together if redundancy is needed.  Redundancy on a wake up source is normally not required in systems.

    Best Regards,

    Scott
