TPS65917EVM: Question about TPS65917 EVM

Part Number: TPS65917EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65917-Q1, TPS65217

Hello Teams,

I have been testing TPS65917 EVM.

I powered the TPS65917EVM with 3.8V and 1~3A.

I have tested the PMIC several times and all of a sudden, I see that the power isn't going in enough.

When I set the voltage as 3.8V, range and limit of current as 3A, the voltage only goes in 1V while current goes in 3A.

Any solution to this problem?

Thank you.

  • Do you have a load connected to the output power rails of the TPS65917 device?

It sounds like there is a short to GND somewhere in the setup. I would set your current limit lower (to <1A) until the root cause of the issue is found. It is possible this EVM is damaged now and you need to test on a new EVM or replace the IC on the EVM with a new TPS65917 sample IC.
  • Hello Brian,

    I have one question.

I would love to try resetting the power and the registers, but I am not sure where to start with my EVM.

Could you give a direction to do?

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

  • Jinwook,
If you received an email about me replying to your question, I deleted my response because I made a mistake and thought this question was about the TPS65217, but it is about the TPS65917-Q1. The expert on the TPS65917-Q1 has been notified of your question and will respond as soon as possible.

However, there is a US Holiday this weekend and you may not receive a response until Tuesday May 29th. Thank you for your patience.
  • Hi Jinwook,

Have you seen our EVM user guide? www.ti.com/.../sliu020. This may help in understanding how to use the EVM.

To reset the registers, you can turn the EVM off and then on again. Also, please check out the jumper settings required in our user guide. This may help your EVM behavior.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Thanks,
    Nastasha
  • Hello teams,

I am currently seeing a defective on my TPS65917 EVM and the power doesn't go in properly, which means when I power in 3.8V it only goes in 1V.

In order to turn on, there should be more power going in, as I know.

What should I do in this case?

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

  • Jinwook,

Have you verified the jumper settings on your EVM? Can you post a picture of your board?

    Thanks,

    Nastasha
