TPS65218: PMIC Startup Issue - DCDC4 output voltage & PWR_EN toggles

Part Number: TPS65218

Hi,

My query is not resolved

Custom board PMIC startup issue, unable to start from 5V Dc input even though 200pf capacitor connected between L4A pin and Ground

I reduced the input voltage below 4.75Vdc but still few board start working and other not

pls. reply with a concrete solution

Thanks

  • Santosh,
I have forwarded your question to our product specialist for this part. You should hear from him soon.
  • Santosh,

Please consider migrating to the TPS65218D0, which replaces the TPS65218 -B1 (recently marked as NRND).

The TPS65218D0 does not have any issues with DCDC4 start-up and additional external components (capacitors or Schottky diodes) are not required.

If you are testing the TPS656218 and need to complete some system-level testing before you switch to TPS65218D0, then I can advise a workaround using test equipment:

Start-up the TPS65218 PMIC with VIN = 3.3V, as this is high enough to overcome UVLO + Hysteresis and low enough the that DCDC4 will not have any issues during ramp. The -B1 datasheet make a note of this, but it is written as a Min spec even though it is the Maximum allowable value for VIN_DCDC4:

As long as VIN_DCDC4 is kept <3.4V across temperature, DCDC4 and the entire PMIC will start up correctly.
