TPS65381A-Q1: Resister value when error occured

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TPS65381A-Q1 and has questions.

I woould be grateful if you could advise.

---

(1) Is the register value of TPS65381A - Q1 reset to the initial value each time it is activated?

(2) When an error occurred in TPS65381A-Q1, and move to STANDBY mode or RESET mode,

does the resister value at normal startup remain the same? Or it will be initialized?.

(3) By comparing the value of register to be set at startup (for example, Window of WD) with the default value,

is it possible to know whether the startup is normal startup or abnormal startup?

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

I've assigned this post to the applications engineer, he will respond to your question.

  • Hi Shinichi,

See my answers below for your questions.

    (1) Is the register value of TPS65381A - Q1 reset to the initial value each time it is activated?
Murthy: Every time there is a Power on Reset (NPOR) event all the registers are reinitialized. The the device supply is turned on for the first time, NPOR event happens and registers are reset.

    (2) When an error occurred in TPS65381A-Q1, and move to STANDBY mode or RESET mode, does the resister value at normal startup remain the same? Or it will be initialized?.
Murthy: In the datasheet SPI register section, for every register "Initialization source" is mentioned and depending on this condition, registers get reinitialized. Some registers are reinitialized only after NPOR and some are reinitialized after LBIST is run. So, if the error does not cause, NPOR or LBIST re-run , register values will be retained.

    (3) By comparing the value of register to be set at startup (for example, Window of WD) with the default value,
is it possible to know whether the startup is normal startup or abnormal startup?
Murthy: Yes, by looking at the register values, it should be possible to identify whether start-up is normal or abnormal.

    Regards,

    Murthy
