TPS65950: Digital microphone

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950

Q: While using digital mic inputs on TPS65950, is there any specific procedure to enable digital mic clock?
A: No. However, you can use the same procedure mentioned in the TRM and have the digital microphone enabled at the same location where you have analog microphones enabled.

Q: How to setup the clock speed?
A: CLK speed is set by the APLL_RATE (50*FS). In this case you have only 48K as mentioned in TRM.

Q: Will the digital mic clockout depend system clock(13M, 19.2M or 26M)?
A: Any system CLK is fine.

Q: Will this digital mic clock present always? Or only present when enable?
A: Digital microphone interface is enabled only when you set it in PMBR1 register. So, CLK is not present always.

  • Q: Can the TPS65950 operate digmics with values of FS different than 48000? i.e. DIG.MIC.CLK different than 2.4 MHz?

Section 14.2.2.8 mandates that only FS=48000 is supported. Experimentally, FS=16000 or FS=32000 seems to work fine with some Analog Devices digmic.

Is any further information available on this?

  • Hi Gandar Dighe,
I'm facing with a problem of digital microphone clock with TPS65950. It does not have clock at DIG.MIC.CLK0 pin. I've read the TPS65950 TRM and found that PMBR1 register. But i don't know how I can set value for this register. Can you tell me how to set value for PMBR1 register?
    Thanks you very much.
