TPS65910A31 Power ON without PWRON pin

Hello,

We are using TPS65910A31 in our design with AM3354 processor. We don't need PWRON function as we are not connecting a push / tactile switch. We also uses RTC Backup battery

We need PMIC to turn on automatically when VCC is available.

Can we achieve this auto PMIC turn on requirement by connecting PMIC "PWRHOLD" pin to "PMIC_POWER_EN" pin of AM335x?

Sandeep,

This is achievable by PWRHOLD pin, you connect and disconnect PWRHOLD with VBAT given VBAT is not rising above 5v. Also, you need to make sure then when you turn off the device you remove the PWRHOLD connection from VBAT so it can retrigger PWR up when VCC goes high,

In this case "PMIC_POWER_EN" of AM335x will be NC.

How AM335x Power off sequence will happen when PWRHOLD pin is controlled independently ?

Hello Puneet,

One more query additional to the one in the previous post.

Normally, based on what signal / interrupt from AM3354, PMIC TPS65910A3 will start the power down sequence ?

How to turn on the PMIC TPS65910A when AM335x is in RTC only mode in our case when we are not using PWRON pin of PMIC ?

Sandeep , you need to disconnect PWRHOLD pin when the interrut from sitara pin.

This has to be controlled externally from the device.
