TPS65950/30/20: Is this family of devices compatible with OMAP3?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950, TPS65920, TPS65930

Following are some questions from the field:

  1. Are these devices (TPS65920, TPS65930 and TPS65950) code compatible? Meaning, you would drop one in place of the other if you weren’t going to use the Audio Codecs?
  2. Are the 3 DC-DC and 4 LDO’s of the TPS65920 enough to power the OMAP without having to add any external rails?
  3. Do you have any schematics available with the TPS65920 connected to a OMAP35xx device?

Following are the responses to the above:

  1. Yes, these are software compatible. However, you cannot drop in on the existing hardware as the footprint is different.
  2. Yes.
  3. We do not have schematics for TPS65920. However we have daughter card for TPS65930 developed by Mistral (http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tps65930.html#toolssoftware ). This can be used with the Mistral EVM. TPS65920 and TPS65930 have the same footprint and the schematics and layout can be reused for TPS65920 as well (very few balls are different).
